Visite du Ministre de l'Environnement, du Climat et de la Biodiversité au Lët'z Refashion

For a circular and sustainable textile sector

Friday 26 September 2025

Thanks to the support of the Ministry of Environment, Climate and Biodiversity, Lët'z Refashion, a space for circular, ethical and local fashion, is strengthening its role as a driver of change.

On Thursday 25 September, the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Biodiversity, Serge Wilmes, and the director of HUT – Hëllef um Terrain, Philippe Schrantz, met at the Lët’z Refashion space to formalise their partnership. The collaboration agreement that now binds the two partners provides not only for the continuation of Lët'z Refashion's mission, but also for its strengthening, particularly in its awareness-raising activities among key audiences such as young people, local authorities and businesses. In the face of environmental and social emergencies, increased mobilisation is essential.

As a reminder, Lët'z Refashion's mission is to raise awareness about the environmental and social challenges facing the textile industry, to provide a place where anyone can learn sewing skills, and to promote Slow Fashion initiatives, in particular by offering local entrepreneurs and designers a free space to showcase their creations. Various activities such as clothing swaps, exhibitions, repair cafés and sewing workshops are organised there. Of course, people can also find upcycled, recycled and second-hand clothing and accessories. The aim is to change consumer behaviour and move towards a sustainable and circular textile sector in Luxembourg.

The two partners are also involved in the LUI – Luxembourg Upcycling Initiative project, which aims to give unused work uniforms a second life. These creations will be produced by a workshop set up to encourage the professional integration of people who are distant from the primary labour market. In addition, a joint study conducted by the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) reveals that upcycling could reduce environmental impacts by an average of 87% compared to the production of new products. This project is proving to be a positive and innovative initiative, demonstrating that ecological transition can be a vector for social cohesion. The two partners are delighted with this collaboration, which proves that taking action for the environment can also strengthen social ties. More ethical and responsible consumption patterns are not only possible, but necessary. They invite everyone to actively engage in this transition.
