Strengthening understanding of mental health issues in situations of precariousness

Tuesday 20 October 2026

To mark Mental Health Weeks, the HUT – Hëllef um Terrain Unité PSY organised a half-day workshop focusing on a key question: ‘What if our symptoms were sometimes responses to the impossible?’

Bringing together 16 participants, this session provided an opportunity to explore the links between mental health, extreme precariousness and coping strategies in the face of particularly complex life situations. The discussions highlighted the importance of considering symptoms within their context and adopting an approach centred on understanding people’s life journeys.

Thank you to all the participants for the richness of the discussions and their commitment, as well as to Amélie Zeimet, Julie Gurnari, Youssra Aanounou, François and Hédi Ben Malek for their involvement in organising this inspiring half-day event. A special thank you also goes to the peer supporter who shared his experience and enriched the discussions with his lived expertise.

A great success for the Unité Psy, which encourages us to continue creating these spaces for reflection and discussion in order to keep changing perceptions of mental health and extreme precariousness.
